Growing Trees

We are dedicated to growing trees for our local community here in Fife, Scotland, and are on a mission to make this effective and affordable.

Empowering Communities

Through sharing our learnings and technologies, we are empowering other communities and landowners to grow their own trees for local rewilding projects.

What’s different about our trees?

At Treewilding, we are experimenting with “air pruning beds” as popularised by 7th Generation Design. Here’s what makes them special.

Healthier Trees

Air pruned trees have bushier, more robust root structures than trees grown in pots. Being grown from seed outside ensures acclimitisation.

Low Maintenance

Our pest-proof tables and solar powered self-watering systems do all the hard work so we don’t have to!

Space Efficient

We can grow 500 trees in a 6x3ft bed, on a 2-year grow cycle.

Cost Efficient

After initial setup, the only ongoing cost is fresh compost.

Low Carbon, Low Impact

99% natural materials, and no single use plastic involved in our entire process.

Did you invent the air pruning bed?

We wish! At Treewilding, we follow the principles of the beds popularised by 7th Generation Design. We’re scaling up these incredible self-watering, pest-resistant setups to enable us and other communities to grow thousands of trees with little regular care required.

Can I build my own air pruning bed?

Sure! We’re working on shareable designs for our system, but for now, get in touch and we’ll do our best to help!
